Thursday, 24. of October 2024
4:40 pm - 6:10 pm
We are pleased to welcome Prof. Michael D. Todd, Distinguished Professor and Chair of the Department of Structural Engineering at University of California San Diego, to TU Dresden between October 21 and October 25, 2024.
As part of his research stay, Prof. Todd will give a lecture on October 24, 2024, from 16:40 to 18:10, titled "The Art and Science of Decision-Making in Structural Life Cycle Asset Management". It will take place in the von-Gerber-Bau at TU Dresden (GER/37/H). The lecture will address the challenge of extending the service life of building structures beyond their intended lifespan due to constrained budgets and will present an active strategy for their structural life cycle management. This strategy includes elements of damage progression modeling, uncertainty quantification, decision-making, and system optimization.
